Full Description
This edited volume explores the pragmatic implications of communication about food from multidisciplinary, cross-linguistic perspectives. The contributions pay particular attention to the exploration of the ways in which concepts relating to food and nutrition are dealt with in many genres, ensuring the dissemination of culinary and nutritional knowledge and the preservation of local cultures and food-related traditions. The current state of the art does not present any collective work that takes into consideration the multifaceted ways in which food is communicated. This volume fills this gap by gathering international experts from related fields who explore the topic from different perspectives but with complementary approaches. The volume focuses on three aspects of food-related communication, that is, corporate and institutional communication, digital recipes, and food and culture beyond borders. The chapters investigate discourse(s) in different media (e.g., social media websites, fictional prose and advertising campaigns), for different audiences (e.g., adults and children), and in different languages. This is an appetizing book for insatiable academic minds.
