Full Description

This book provides a comparative perspective of various areas of corporate management in two post-socialist regions: China and Eastern Europe.

The book employs original firm-level empirical analyses and meta-analyses of the extant literature to investigate the impacts of corporate ownership on firm performance and organizational behavior; internal organization through the lens of the corporate board; and the interrelationship between firms and gender, labor relations, and society. In comparing China and Eastern Europe, the book addresses whether corporate governance structures have evolved due to global pressures from competition and technological progress or if inter-regional differences reflect how firms were privatized or handed over to managers after the end of central planning.

This book will appeal to researchers and post-graduate students interested in comparative economics, economic system transition, and comparative corporate systems.
