Full Description
The academic level is first-year university students with no particular interest in physics. Or even distaste or fear of physics. There is nothing in the book for the sake of physics or because "physics is fun". All physics covered is relevant to the student's line of study in itself, and for subsequent courses in their curriculum. The book is algebra-based but in a few instances uses a bit of calculus and vector algebra, mainly for illustration but knowledge of these subjects is not essential. Also, the book assumes familiarity with elementary functions like exponential, logarithms and trigonometric functions. The book has a problem section after each chapter with life science-relevant exercises. They are mainly thematic: One theme for each problem with several questions. None of the exercises requires skills in calculus. The problems are directly relevant to life science and aim to teach the students to think physics into their fields. This book will be a valuable textbook for first-year students of Biophysics, Biological Physics, Food Physics, Medical Physics, Veterinary Physics, Physics for Life Science. There are examples in the text and problems with answers after each chapter. Answers, not worked solutions. A solutions manual will be prepared.
