The Hungarian Revolution of 1848-1849 abolished feudal government and society and laid the foundation for a free-market capitalist economy. Fundamental reforms included the emacipaton of the serfs, equality of all citizens before the law, and the establishment of a popularly elected parliament. The Hungarian revolution was interdependent with other revolutions in Europe.
