Focusing on dance innovation from the late 19th century to today, this history provides the reader with accessible information on the major contributors to the art. Organized chronologically by the decades in which innovators were born or dance organizations were founded, it covers more than 110 choreographers, companies, institutions, and dancers from both modern dance and ballet, and from around the world. Readers can view clips of dances from over 220 Internet search addresses that illustrate the text. Video-graphics are provided at the end of each chapter for viewing complete dances and documentaries.
