基本説明
Concentrating on Dahl, Friedrich and their northern European contemporaries, this book vividly explores a new fascination with the theme of moonlight shown by Romantic artists, writers and musicians during the period c. 1770-1860.
Full Description
This book explores the career and significance of the Norwegian artist Johan Christian Dahl within the Romantic Movement. Dahl's close friend Caspar David Freidrich was a major influence on Dahl's work and the author looks carefully at the links between the two landscapists. A second theme is the Romantic fascination with moonlight and its associations in landscape painting, using works by such artists as Joseph Wright of Derby, Paul Sandby, C.J. Vernet, Turner, Samuel Palmer, and Honore Daumier.
