America Throne is rebuilding her life after her boyfriend Jasper unceremoniously dumps her - by fax. Perhaps not surprisingly, America temporarily descends into a self-destructive cycle of recriminations and increasingly threatening phone calls to her recalcitrant ex. Luckily her rather more practical best friend, Sadie, is on hand to kick America back into shape. This being California, America's 'journey back to wholeness' involves some not entirely conventional twists and turns.
