ACT I: How He Speaks
Chapter 1: Introduction to Holy Spirit
Main idea: Understand Holy Spirit as mentor and guide.
Verse: John 14:26
Chapter 2: Jesus
Main idea: When Jesus is your central focus, you hear His voice over your own.
Verses: Hebrews 1:1-4; Titus 3:5; Romans 8:9-11; Ephesians 3:16-17
Chapter 3: Bible
Main idea: The Word is the clearest way God speaks into your life. It is God-breathed truth that teaches the character of Christ, helps develop a Spirit-led lifestyle and empowers you to walk in purpose.
Verses: Hebrews 4:12; Ephesians 6:17; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Psalm 119:105
Chapter 4: Prayer
Main idea: Powered by Holy Spirit, pray to celebrate, petition, praise, pause and listen in a two-way dialogue with Father God. Prayer shifts our will to His and turns our gaze to the powerful and authoritative name of Jesus.
Verses: Jeremiah 33:3; Exodus 23:21; Romans 8:26-27; Luke 5:16; Psalm 86:11; 143:10
Chapter 5: Worship
Main idea: Worship shifts the atmosphere of heaven onto earth. Worship is a weapon with which you go to war and turn your attention to the battle Christ has already won. Other times you fall to your knees in humble adoration at the weight of who God is. Worship shifts your focus to the finished work of the cross.

Chapter 6: Church
Main idea: A healthy church is built on Christ and built up as Holy Spirit pours out.
Verses: Ephesians 4:15-16; Acts 2:46-47
Chapter 7: Creation
Main idea: We encounter God through His handcrafted work in creation. Time in creation will lead us to interact with the Creator.
Verses: Psalm 19:1-4
Chapter 8: People
Main idea: Whether it's prophetic insight, preaching the word or providing wise counsel, God uses leadership at church and other people to speak to you also. If God used a donkey, I'm pretty sure He can use humans, too.
Verses: Numbers 22:28; Proverbs 15:22; 2 Peter 1:21; 1 Corinthians 14:31
Chapter 9: Circumstance
Main idea: Hearing God's voice through circumstances, dreams at night, signs or "coincidences," needs to be viewed within the context of Scripture and God's character.

Chapter 10: How is God Speaking Life to You?
Main idea: Living with intention to honor His Presence—so we don't miss out on direction, counsel and comfort as we pursue holiness—is key in developing spiritually. The first section of the book took you through different examples of how He can speak to you, although there may also be additional ways you hear His voice. In everything, weigh it against Scripture and determine if it aligns with the character of Christ. Bonus points: If you're hearing a life-changing word from God, in addition to discerning it with the Word, talk to trusted and healthy leaders in your church community to gain further wisdom and insight.
ACT II: Hold-Ups and Hang-Ups
Chapter 11: Introduction
Main idea: We all have hold-ups and hang-ups towards listening to the voice of God. This section will discuss the different voices we can lean into: Triune God, Satan or the voice of flawed humans... like ourselves. Let's overcome the obstacles that obstruct viewing the world through a Gospel-centered lens so we can live Spirit-led.

Chapter 12: Yourself
Main idea: Our human heart is flawed and deceitful. The death and resurrection of Christ enables us to walk from depravity into holiness. You aren't the hero of this story, Jesus is. Get over your "selfie."

Chapter 13: Sin
Main idea: Through the life-giving power of the Spirit, your sinful nature dies when you embrace conviction and walk in repentance.

Chapter 14: Distractions
Main idea: Distractions can turn into major disruptions in pursing His Presence.
Verses: Luke 10:41-42; Psalm 119:37
Chapter 15: Opposition and Lies
Main idea: The enemy's goal is to slyly lead you way from the transformational power of the Gospel.
Verses: Ephesians 6:12; John 8:31-32; 10:10; 14:26-27
Chapter 16: Isolation
Main idea: Intentional isolation leads to destruction. Healthy community constructs spiritual growth.
Verses: James 5:16; Proverbs 27:17; Acts 2:42; Matthew 18:20
Chapter 17: Chaos and Fear
Main idea: Perfect peace isn't a posture of a physical positioning, but a spiritual one.
Verses: Romans 8:15; 1 Corinthians 14:33
Chapter 18: Timidity
Main idea: As Believers, we walk freely independent by being boldly dependent on Christ. Leaning into Him means letting go of timidity.
Verses: 2 Timothy 1:7; Ephesians 3:12-13; 2 Corinthians 3:12
Chapter 19: Suffering
Main idea: Following Christ doesn't make you immune to suffering it just helps you remain attuned and comforted by the Presence of God in the middle of affliction.
Verses: 1 Peter 4:12-19; Romans 8:28; 1 Thessalonians 1:6
Chapter 20: Neglecting the Gifts
Main idea: Honor Holy Spirit by placing value on the gifts He's given you. Stewarding these will help others experience His kingdom on earth.
Verses: 1 Corinthians 12:4-11; Romans 12:6-8; 1 Peter 4:10
Chapter 21: How Does Your Life Produce Fruit?
Main idea: Can you or others identify the spiritual fruit in your life? If you find that your attitude and actions aren't producing fruit and you are having a hard time leaning in to Christ and listening to His voice, work through this section of the book again. You are created to live Spirit-led.
Verses: Galatians 5:22-23; 2 Thessalonians 2:13; John 15:8
ACT III: Overflowing with Possibility & Promise
Chapter 22: Introduction
Main idea: Learn to discern and align with the Word as you respond to God's voice. You've been filling up with truth and the promises of God. In this final section of the book, we'll trust that Holy Spirit will overflow and spill out in new and powerful ways.

Chapter 23: Faith-Fueled Obedience
Main idea: Obedience powered by the Spirit means you walk in faith and trust He'll move mightily.
Verses: Mark 2:1-11
Chapter 24: Hope and Joy
Main idea: Holy Spirit fills you with a joy and hope that others find contagious.
Verses: Acts 9:31; 13:52; Romans 15:13
Chapter 25: Guides
Main idea: Walk confidently with the guidance of Holy Spirit.
Verses: 1 John 2:27; Psalm 143:10
Chapter 26: Unifies
Main idea: The work of the Spirit in our lives helps us maintain unity based out of love rather than division rooted in harm.
Verses: 1 Corinthians 12:12-26, Acts 17:26-29, Ephesians 4:3
Chapter 27: Reveals
Main idea: Holy Spirit pours out His Spirit through reveletory gifts like words of knowledge, wisdom and discernment of spirits so that others feel known, seen, valued and loved by God.
Verses: John 14:26; Acts 2:17; Luke 6:6-11
Chapter 28: Empowers
Main idea: The Presence of God performs miracles through willing vessels like you.
Verses: Acts 1:8; 28; Luke 4:18
Chapter 29: Encourages
Main idea: Holy Spirit wants to use you to speak encouragement and life into all areas of your societal influence.
Verses: 1 Corinthians 14:1-3, 24-25
Chapter 30: Transforms
Main idea: Transformation is a miraculous act of God that carries power to connect others to the power of the cross.
Verses: Romans 12
Chapter 31: How Are You Speaking Life to Others?
Main idea: Doing God's purpose releases His power. Remain intentional and present to pursue all God has for you. Impact the community of people around you.
