基本説明
New in paperback. Hardcover is out of print. When this book was first published in 1956, African grasshoppers were showing signs of becoming major pests. It is clearly a first essential to study the numerous different species systematically and in detail. In this catalogue the author has checked every item and has arranged a complete set of references in an orderly form, so that the published work on each species can easily be traced. Under each genus and species summarized annotations, in chronological order, refer to the full bibliography at the end of the volume. These records are also analysed to provide references to descriptions, keys, illustrations, morphology, nymphal stages, ecology, bionomics, economic importance of the species, and their distribution within Africa. The author has considerable research experience of African locusts and grasshoppers, and a thorough knowledge of the literature. His catalogue, which has been sponsored by the Anti-Locust Research Centre, will be a useful basis for preventative action by insecticides and methods of land use.
