As governments, companies, and consumers become more conscious of their power consumption and associated CO2 emissions, operating communications devices at maximum efficiency is paramount. This book explores the capability that algorithmic power efficiency improvement technologies have in significantly reducing the power consumption required in communications systems. It addresses peak-to-average-power ratio (PAPR/ PAR) reduction algorithms, intended to lower the fluctuations of the transmit signal's envelope hence lowering the demands on the linearity of the power amplifier; and Digital Predistortion (DPD) techniques, which complement PAR reduction algorithms.
