Neglected and Underutilized Plant-Based Land Restoration focuses specifically on those plants frequently overlooked, aka, "forgotten crops" that have high potential for their resilience and natural adaptation potential, even in harsh climatic conditions. Presenting promising and affordable restoration practices for transforming degraded lands, the book also provides an excellent basis for future research though both practical and theoretical insights. It includes specific sections on plant-species level approaches using plant groups in land restoration efforts, case studies to highlight real-word examples, and coverage of the latest technologies, policies and perspectives.
In addition to being less expensive than other solutions, these plants have the ability to support livelihoods in presence of poor soil fertility, water scarcity, and other yield-limiting factors, key to meeting the challenges of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration (2021-2030).
