It focuses on both retributive justice principles (response to crime) and distributive justice principles (fair distributions of rewards and burdens). It includes: an overview of pre-modern, modern and late modern visions of social justice; various applications (procedural, actuarial, restorative, transitional and transformative justice); justice and legal struggles (gender, race, class); globalism and multiculturalism in relation to justice (indigenous, environmental, postcolonial, as well as issues of sustainability, international peacemaking); and lists of extensive case studies of international struggles for social justice.
