The book begins with an introduction to the major themes of conflict and cooperation in Latin American foreign policies, an overview of U.S.-Latin American relations, and an assessment of contemporary research in the field. The authors then analyze the economic challenges, regional conflicts, and security concerns of the nations of South and Central America, with case studies of the foreign policies of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Peru, Venezuela, Colombia, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Cuba.
