This teacher's guide has been written to accompany the six "Topic Starters" pupils' books. It offers guidance on how to introduce non-readers and beginner readers to non-fiction. The questions, games and activities help to consolidate the use of topic words encountered in the pupils' books, thus preparing the young reader for the A,B,C and "More A,B,C Fact Finders". The wide variety of activities is divided into three differentiated levels; the first level provides suggestions for talking and listening activities; the upper two take the form of photocopiable activity sheets.
