Full Description
The "African Development Report 1997" is the ninth annual survey of economic and social progress in Africa. The report provides a comprehensive yet concise analysis of the state of the African economies, as well as examining the development policy issues affecting the economic prospects of the continent. The Report's theme this year - Fostering Private Sector Development in Africa - reflects increased recognition of the role of private sector-led growth in reducing poverty over the long term. The Report addresses a range of key issues relating to this theme, including: reviving private investment for growth; building efficient public infrastructure; accelerating privatization; creating an enabling business environment; enhancing entrepreneurial development; and promoting financial and capital markets.
