Market/AudienceThere are approximately 171,000 nurse practitioners (NPs) practicing in the U.S. and an estimated 14,000 new NPs completed their academic programs in 2011-2012. There are 16,500 Pediatric Nurse Practitioners with certification in practice. 97% of NPs maintain some sort of national certfication.--Two competing certification exams are offered for Pediatric NPs in both Primary Care and Acute Care:PPCNP-BC - Pediatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner-Board Certified (2,826 certified) offered by ANCC.CPNP - Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (13,758 certified) offered by the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB)
