Respiratory Care Protocols is built on the concept of therapeutic objectives which integrate the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) clinical practice guidelines into actions appropriate to immediate patient needs.The therapeutic objectives establish rationale for primacy of one action over another based on severity or acuity and are organized into the following major areas: Improve Oxygenation, Lunch Re-Expansion, Mobile Secretions, Inhaled Medication/Brochodilators, and Alveolar Ventilation. Case Studies, incorporated throughout Respiratory Care Protocols, allows students to see direct application of what they are learning and become an active participant in the process, creating a realistic and meaningful learning environment.
