Die 6. Symphonie vollendete Beethoven vermutlich im Frühsommer 1808. Das vom Komponisten selbst als "Pastoral-Symphonie" betitelte Orchesterwerk wurde gemeinsam mit der 5. Symphonie 1808 in Wien uraufgeführt. Beide werden gemeinhin als kontrastierende Schwesterwerke bezeichnet, die sich gegenseitig ergänzen. Auf der Basis des Notentextes der Beethoven-Gesamtausgabe und mit neuem Vorwort versehen, stellt diese jüngst erstellte Edition den aktuellen Stand der Beethoven-Forschung zu diesem Werk dar. Mit dieser Studien-Edition ist er nun günstig und im handlichen Format für jedermann verfügbar.

Beethoven most likely completed his 6th Symphony in early summer 1808. The work, called "Pastoral Symphony" by the composer himself, was given its first performance along with the 5th Symphony in Vienna in 1808. Both are frequently referred to as sibling works that complement one another. Based on the musical text of the Beethoven Complete Edition and provided with a new preface, this recently made edition represents the latest stage of Beethoven scholarship on this work. Thanks to this study score, the work is now available in a handy format and at an affordable price.
