Einmal fertiggestellt, wird sie die gesamte altfranzösische Literatur verzeichnen mit allen Ausgaben und sprachwissenschaftlich relevanten Studien und lexikologischen Werken. Verweise und Register erschließen die Information (Textdatierung, Lokalisierung, Handschriften mit Datierung, korrespondierende Abkürzungen anderer Werke, etc.).

The DEAF covers the entire vocabulary (including regional variants from Anglo-Norman to Franco-Italian) of Old French texts from the earliest documents to the mid-14th century, listing all meanings and situating the material etymologically and historically in terms both of the development of the vocabulary of French and the development of the Romance languages in general.
