| 来たる6月7日（木）、つくば市で「学術論文誌の今日的役割を問う」と題した講演会が開催されます。 （主催：（独）物質材料研究機構・（独）産業技術総合研究所） アメリカ物理学会で、世界で最も権威のある物理学専門誌Physical Review（日本総販売代理店：（株）紀伊國屋書店）の編集長として活躍し、今年3月に退任したDr.Martin Blumeが、学術出版の最前線で過ごした日々を振り返り、興味深い舞台裏を語ります。また有識者によるパネルディスカッションでは、科学における倫理と学術論文誌の将来が論じられます。 国内外で起こる論文の捏造問題が巷間を賑わす昨今、科学研究の倫理や学術出版の将来といったテーマに関心を持つ皆さまにご参加をお薦めいたします。 |

| ★Dr.Martin Blumeの紹介 Martin Blume is the Editor-in-Chief of the American Physical Society, publisher of Physical Review journals, Physical Review Letters, and Reviews of Modern Physics, all recognized as among the most prestigious titles in the world of physics publishing. Since 1996 he has been on leave from his position as senior physicist at Brookhaven National Laboratory where he served as head of condensed matter theory, chairman of the National Synchrotron Light Source Department, and Deputy Director of the Laboratory. His research covers many areas of atomic and condensed matter physics and he has served on numerous panels for the NAS-NRC, the Department of Energy, and the National Science Foundation. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the British Institute of Physics, and the American Physical Society. He received the E.O. Lawrence Award in 1981 for his contributions to theoretical analysis of magnetic phenomena in neutron scattering and for his scientific leadership in solid state physics. Dr.Blume frequently writes and speaks about the challenge of electronic publishing and associated questions of intellectual property, archiving, peer review, the dual role of paper and electronic media, and the economic questions of cost minimization and recovery. |
